Odel
The middle son of a puppet king, Odel is taken to be the companion of the Loharan prince, Kent. He comes trapped by Kent's dark past and is cursed by the Sorcerer Atol to spend the rest of his days as both swan and man

Nikolai
The seventh son of the king, Nikolai is a restless young man, grown up with no destiny laid out before him. He defies his father's orders to stay away from the Black Forest and is drawn to a forbidden lake. When one of his men harms a swan that has lead him through the forest he decides it is his duty to return the dying creature to its mate who waits for its return on the lake. Do so, however, drags him into an web of lies, betrayal, and forbidden love.

Kent
The son of an ancient king, he fell in love with the prince Odel, though such a thing was forbidden. He willingly agreed to share Odel's fate even though it meant that as long as they were together neither would be free of the sorcerer's curse.

Atol
A user of dark magics the sorcerer Atol cursed Odel to exist as both man and swan for the sin of loving a man fate did not chose to be his. He allowed Prince Kent to share his lover's fate for as long as Kent and Odel continue with their forbidden love they will not be able to break free of the curse.
