Last Goodbye by Kyo [Reviews - 1]

"There is restlessness in the court"

Kain looked up from stitching a line of Roses on the edge of a table cloth.

"We were only gone three months..." his voice trailed off as he remembered just how many vampires in the court opposed Soryo in some way... especially that idiot Reiner.

Shoving the needle through the white linen to secure it he rose to stand behind his much larger mate, streatching his arms to hold the other in a reasurring hug.

"It's not like you haven't put down an uprising before" he teased, reminding his mate of the uprising that had brought Soryo rushing back to his court with his then reluctant mate.

"This one is different..." Soryo's voice held something in it that made Kain uneasy... "someone has been wrenching their trust in me away and transfering it to themselves..." Kain shivered and hugged his mate closer.

"I think..."

Kain moved around his mate to stare up into conflicted dark blue eyes...

"You think what?"

Soryo's voice was filled with disbelief...

"I think..."

Kain poked him in the side "what?"

"I think..."

A blood red eyebrow twitched minutely and Soryo managed an evil grin down at his impatient mate.

Two large hands suddenly slid down to grope at the redhead father's ass, causing a shoked shriek and a whak on the arm from Kain.

The faint humor in Soryo's eyes left again, replaced with Conflicted disbelief.

"I think... Miron might be involved"

Kain's own voice reflected that disbelief.

"He is your son... he is our son... he could not do such a thing"

Soryo bent down and gathered his mate to him, holding the smaller body tight against him, resurring himself that his mate was there.

"He is a sire..."

He felt the tension on Kain's muscles and the faint fluttering heartbeat beneath one of his hands.

"Children do not betray their parents..."

"He is not a child anymore"

"He is still my child"

Soryo looked down into pained burgundy eyes and laid a soft kiss on the frown line that marred Kain's forehead. His lips remained there till the line left then traveled down to smooth over a soft cheek and then nibble at coral lips.

Kain managed a faintly disapproving mumble before parting his lips and letting the other's tongue move into his mouth, caressing his fangs and tongue till the father's legs could not hold him anymore.

"No more brooding over thing's that can wait" Soryo whispered into his ear, hands now roaming around his body.

The father let himself be manouvered onto the bed, let himself be stripped of the sapphire silk he had been wearing and let Soryo worship his body.

Soryo's lips hovered for one moment over the faint scar that still disected Kain's stomach.

Miron's birthing scar...

Alexandru's birthing scar...

Everan's birthing scar...

Always the scar had been sensitive and Soryo took advantage of this, reducuing his mate into a fine quivering mess.

Pressing a chaste kiss against one sweaty cheek Soryo lifted his mate's body onto his lap, licking his lips at the fine display of white throat he was presented as his mate sank down.

"Always so strong..."

He looked up smiling into the golden red eyes that hovered above his, nipping at the father's lips and thrusting up gently.

Kain's moan was quiet.

Hair rippling down his back, robe still hanging from his arms, his mate rode him, the disturbing problem that they had been presented gone for just the moment.

Neither saw the watching pair of ice blue eyes.

>

"Father..."

Kain looked up from stitching a scarlet petal and smiled happily at his youngest son

"Miron... what is wrong my son?"

Miron's gaze didnt focus on him truely and Kain once again lamented over beauty that would have been better used for a father.

"I want you to know.. no matter what that I love you..."

Kain smiled again.

"I love you too..."

The sire moved forward then, wrapping his arms around the smalled male and burying his face in the crook of Kain's neck.

"Always love you"

Kain patted him on the shoulder and rested his head against the lengths of pale silk.

"Of course."

>

Burgundy eyes were sheened over blood red and gold in distress.

Kain's breathing came eratically and his chest hurt as he watched Miron destroy the bonds of trust between a promenant vampire and Soryo.

The two bowed and Miron moved away, a self satisfied smirk gracing over his features.

It was the smirk that hurt the most... just like Soryo's but twisted.

His fingers clenched in the scarlet silk he wore and he tried to controll his breathing.

Miron turned, blue eyes searching for someone he knew lurked in the shadows.

"Traitor..."

Blood red hair gleamed in the light of many candles as Kain stepped out fully into the hallway.

"Traitor..."

Tracks of tears made their way silently and unnoticed down paled cheeks

"You..."

Kain's hand lifted, sharp thumbnail sliding over the pads of his other fingers.

"...greedy..."

Crimson blood flowed down from the delicate fingers, hardening into sharp lines

"...selfish..."

Kain's eyes showed him everything, betrayl, disgust, anger and fear.

"TRAITOR!"

Miron dodged as razor sharp blood threads slammed into the wall where he had been standing, leaving heavy dents in the solid stone.

He dodged more of them, jerking slightly as several managed to slice open gashes in his arms.

His father had seen.

There was no possible way he could explain this to him.

A swarth of threads thunked into his shoulder, leaving a heavy wound.

He turned and fled then, eyes widening as he heard the patter of feet.

His father was chasing him...

Pursueing him...

The entrance doors to the castle loomed infront of him, open to let the soothing night breeze in.

He turned one last time, the memory of Kain's pain filled face etching itself in deep before he turned and dissapeared, moving faster then his father could into the vast country side infront of him.

Kain's legs collapsed taking him down to lean against the door panting.

Soryo had been right.

Tears continued to slide down his cheeks.

His own son.

A wave of revulsion shook his body, hand automatically moving to press against the faint scar on his stomach.

He remained there, rubbing at his scar and letting the tears drip down his face, till Soryo came and found him.

His mate's face said it all.

Soryo had confirmed what Kain had.

"Adrian... I'm worried about Adrian..."

Soryo pressed a soft kiss against Kain's cheek and carried him back to their rooms.

"If he was greedy enough to try and take away his own sire's court... then his brother's mate will be not hassle..."

Kain was rambling and Soryo could understand the shock... he was in it also.

"... we all thought that Adrian might have made to much of an exploring child's avances.. seeing as he was brought up so differently."

Soryo licked away a new set of tears and pulled the covers closer around himself.

"...maybe...."

The sire silenced his mate with a deep kiss on the lips.

"We have lost our son..."

Kain's body pressed against his then, in desperate need.

"I never got to say goodbye..."

Their mating was rough and desperate... confused, saddened and angry.

In the aftermath Soryo held Kain closer then ever, pressing kisses along the relaxed face and watching the man he loved sleep finally.

"Sometimes there is no last goodbye" he whispered into the delicate ear and joined his mate in suprisingly dreamless sleep.
